Best new movies and shows on Disney+ in July 2022

Summer is officially here, folks, and wow, is Disney+ bringing you seasonal entertainment! In addition to the final Ms. Marvel, expect to find hot dogs, Mickey Mouse, teenagers singing, dancing and/or being undead, and so many sharks. It’s a rare month without news star wars or MCU property to dominate your viewing schedule, so take the opportunity to descend down the rabbit hole of the excellent ESPN and National Geographic content available on the platform.

What’s summer without hot dogs, right? In this 2019 entry from ESPN 30 for 30 documentary series, director Nicole Lucas Haimes dives deep into the world of competitive eating; precisely, in The 4th of JulyNathan’s famous annual hot dog eating contest in Coney Island. For years, this competition has been dominated by the rivalry between two masters: Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi. (Chestnut is the defending champion as of 2021.) If you’ve only ever thought of competitive eating as something silly that anyone on an empty stomach could be good at, this documentary offers the opportunity to learn how serious physical and emotional training is. , because this sport really is.

This special featuring Mickey and his friends is the third seasonal entry in The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. This author would say that sometimes the weight of Mickey Mouse iconography can cause the character to seem a little bland and lacking in personality. (Theme park ticket sales are serious business!) The wonderful world The segments were a refreshing reminder that besides being the faces of the biggest media company in the world, Mickey and Minnie are silly and goofy and well suited to all sorts of shenanigans.

Shark Party 2022

Beginning: July 10

OK, let’s go ! Don’t tell the mayor of Amity Island, but there’s shark content as far as the eye can see this month on Disney+. We have chosen to focus this year on shark party, from July 10, available on Disney+ as well as all National Geographic networks. SharkFest will be an extensive collection of new programming as well as updated and improved content. Don’t be fooled by sensational headlines like When sharks attack; National Geographic has done a great job for years of educating the world about the ocean’s most misunderstood predator. Sharks are essential to a healthy ocean ecosystem, and it’s up to all of us to learn how to coexist safely with them. Also: sharks are very, very cool.

Listen, I’m old now, so I confess to not being up to date on this Disney Channel Original Movie Series. But I remember my own summer evenings spent over a bowl of popcorn and watching Johnny Tsunami Where Edge! So who am I to make sure our current generation of DCOM enthusiasts know what’s to come? Zombies 3 is set in the senior year of cheerleader Addison and, well, zombie Zed. They attend Seabrook High in a town that is home to both humans and monsters! It’s pretty cool. Wait, wait, apparently aliens appear in this one too? ! In the middle of Addison getting ready for the big thumbs up?! Pass the popcorn, kids, I’m staying up to check that too. Don’t draw on my face when I pass out.

Of, of course, star wars at Back to the future and so on, ILM is an indisputable legend. This six-part docuseries, directed by none other than Laurent Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, just to get started), will take viewers behind the scenes to tell the stories of the groundbreaking artists and engineers who brought so many of our most beloved movie moments to life. Fans of movie magic are sure to want to check it out!

Give it up for the return of the best and most specific title in the game! Season 3 takes the high school theater nerds from East High and sends them to Camp Shallow Lake in California. But, wait, will there still be a musical production at this summer camp? You bet your s’mores are here! Our campers will be busy preparing Frozen, perfectly themed to beat the heat of “campfires, summer romances and nights without a curfew”. Get ready for renditions of songs from Disney properties like camp rock, Frozenand, of course, Musical high school.
