Trying to figure out what to watch on Netflix can be a game in itself, but we’re here to narrow down the choices for you and maximize that viewing time. With a solid library of new, original, and library content, Netflix can make it difficult at times to find what you’re looking for. And in the most extreme situations, it may be beneficial to just search for what’s new on the streaming service to find something you’ve never seen before. To that end, we’ve rounded up some of the best movies newly added to Netflix in October. These include real new releases, beloved comedies, Oscar-winning dramas, and even underrated gems. There is something for everyone, so you won’t leave disappointed.

Check out our pick of the best new movies to hit Netflix in October below.

the guilty

Jake Gyllenhaal in The Culprit
Netflix

A Netflix original and a new release in October, “The Guilty” from “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua is a biting thriller set entirely within the confines of a 9-1-1 operations center. Jake Gyllenhaal plays a cop who was put on 9-1-1 for reasons that were not immediately explained. When he receives a call from a woman who has been abducted, he works effortlessly to find her and get help. The story isn’t as straightforward as it sounds, and Gyllenhaal achieves one of his best performances as a man on the wire.

The Guilty Jake Gyllenhaal Antoine Fuqua

Half brothers

Sony Pictures

If you want to laugh extremely loudly, you can’t go wrong with “Half-Brothers”. The 2008 comedy stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as middle-aged men still living with their single parents who are forced to move in together when their parents get married. It’s an absurd comedy with a very silly premise, but it’s really just an excuse for director Adam McKay to let Ferrell and Reilly’s comedic instincts run wild for 90 minutes straight.

Vacations

Universal Images

There is no more “romantic comedy” than Nancy Meyers, and filmmaker’s 2006 romantic comedy “The Holiday” is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz play the role of two strangers who decide to exchange their home for the holidays; Diaz leaves his Los Angeles mansion for a small cottage in England, while Winslet trades his country life for Hollywood. And wouldn’t you know, the two women discover more about themselves – and find companionship – in the process. The supporting cast includes Jude Law, Jack Black and Eli Wallach, and the film features a fantastic score by Hans Zimmer.

Titanic

titanic-leonardo-dicaprio-kate-winslet
Primordial

Nothing says epic like “Titanic”. James Cameron’s Oscar-dominating three-hour drama still stands more than two decades later as a major achievement. Kate Winslet stars as a young woman destined to marry a man she doesn’t like, and Leonardo DiCaprio is a rambling and hungry (and poor) American. The two board the RMS Titanic on the ship’s doomed voyage, as Cameron captures love and loss with chills and chills to spare.

Zodiac

zodiac-robert-downey-jr-jake-gyllenhaal
Paramount Pictures

Director David Fincher has covered the subject of serial killers extensively during his career, but his 2007 film “Zodiac” is one of his best – and a total masterpiece. The film traces the actual investigation into the Zodiac Killer Murders of the late 1960s and early 1970s in the San Francisco Bay Area. The story is told through the eyes of a young cartoonist played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and the stellar ensemble cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Edwards, Chloe Sevigny and John Carroll Lynch.

Bad teacher

Sony Pictures

If R-rated comedies are your speed, 2011’s “Bad Teacher” is a solid choice. Directed by Jake Kasdan (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) and written by “The Office” alumni Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the film stars Cameron Diaz as a lazy college professor who returns to work in order to collect enough money for breast augmentation. Justin Timberlake plays the sweet-mannered supply teacher who catches his eye, while Jason Segel is the laid-back gym teacher who finds Diaz’s foul mouth irresistible.

There is someone in your house

There is someone in your house
Netflix

October means Halloween, which means it’s a great time to check out the new “There’s Someone Inside Your House” version. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephanie Perkins, the film stars Sydney Park as a high school student with a mysterious past who is plunged in the middle of a series of murders at her school. What connects each murder is that after each student dies, a devastating secret about them is revealed. Director Patrick Brice (“Creep”) brings a cinematic, moody aesthetic to the proceedings, and there’s a bit of a “scream” vibe with the teenage angle. It will also allow you to guess until the very end.

King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword

Warner Bros.

A bit of a left-field pick, but trust me, “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” is underrated. It’s the legend of King Arthur told by director Guy Ritchie, so there’s a visceral nature to the action, underscored by Daniel Pemberton’s propulsive score. Charlie Hunnam plays the eponymous Arthur, while Jude Law plays the evil King Vortigern. The Arthurian legend is played out quickly and freely in the film, and honestly, it’s Hunnam’s action and charisma that are the biggest draws. If you go with measured expectations for fun, you’ll enjoy this one when it hits Netflix on October 25.

Restart

The Weinstein company

Everyone loves a good romantic comedy, and “Begin Again” delivers the goods with a musical twist. Written and directed by “Once” and “Sing Street” filmmaker John Carney, the 2013 feature film stars Keira Knightley as an aspiring musician who is discovered by a struggling record label manager (played by Mark Ruffalo ). The film is packed with original songs and is a love letter to singer-songwriters around the world. It also features support towers from Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, James Cordon, Mos Def and Catherine Keener. The film will be released on Netflix on October 27.

I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky and I also believe that Friday is here and we are ready for one of the biggest movies of the year! With this we share the best new movies in theaters and movies available on streaming services that you don’t want to miss.

We never want you to be late to the party for any of the upcoming movies, so we share a list of the best new movies coming out every week, so you can plan your weekend accordingly.

The most anticipated movie of the year for so many (including myself) is hitting theaters and well HBO Max. Some said it was the 2021 sexist movie like we have Oscar Isaac, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa in the movie. However, Netflix faces the competition with its vampire film Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney. I’ll let you decide who will win the competition this weekend.

Families are welcoming a unique new franchise-free animated film this week featuring Ron was wrong. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in theaters without being returned by the streaming platform.

We’ve got a socially awkward college kid, a huge sci-fi adventure, and some vampires falling this week.

New films to see this weekend at the cinema

  • Dune
  • Ron went wrong
  • The French dispatch (Limited edition)

The Ron’s Gone Wrong trailer blew me away because it looks like an outright blast. I’m not the biggest fan of animated movies, but I don’t see how this one won’t be great with a cast like Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, and Ed Helms.

New movies to watch this weekend in streaming

  • Dune (HBO Max)
  • Night teeth (Netflix)
  • Minari (Show time)

We’ve heard the raves, but it’s finally time for us at home to find out if Dune is as good as they say. Fortunately, for those who are not yet ready to go to the movies, Dune simultaneously released on HBO Max. Denis Villeneuve is one of my favorite filmmakers so I hope we’re all raving and raving about the quality of this movie.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streamed?

With the content available on streaming services changing daily, it seems, it can be difficult to know what to watch. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime appear to be trading shows and movies like baseball cards. Sometimes you find gold and discover something new that you couldn’t find before.

Amazon Prime always acquires new movies that you can watch for free on their platform with a subscription. While the service is known to produce its own content, it also offers popular and critically acclaimed films. Here are some of the best new movies on Amazon Prime.

Die hard

This 1988 film set the standard for modern action movies. While Bruce Willis was already known to have played in the ABC series Moonlight, Die hard that’s what made him a star. The film is directed by John McTiernan, who also directed Predator & Hunting in the month of red October. Before its release, studio executives at 20th Century Fox had little expectation of Die hard.

However, Die hard was a resounding success. It grossed around $ 140 million on a budget of $ 30 million. The film follows John McClane (Willis), a New York cop visiting his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) in Los Angeles. German terrorists invade a Christmas party at Holly’s workplace, led by criminal mastermind Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman). It’s up to John to save the day.

Willis portrayed McClane as an emotionally flawed and vulnerable character, something not often seen in action movies of the ’80s. Die hard received four Oscar nominations. It is now cited as one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. That’s right. Die hard is new to Amazon Prime just in time for the holiday season.

Fight Club

While David Fincher has directed many quality films, Fight Club maybe its most popular. This breathtaking 1999 film stars Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter. It is based on a 1996 novel by Chuck Palahniuk with the same title. While Fight Club was initially considered a commercial failure, it has since achieved cult classic status.

Fight Club follows an anonymous narrator (Norton) who is unhappy with his professional life. In order to feel something, he goes to various support groups for diseases that he does not have. In these groups, he meets Marla (Carter), who also attends entertainment. Eventually, Norton’s character meets soap salesman Tyler Durden (Pitt). The two form Fight Club.

Certainly, Fight Club can be considered controversial because of its cultural impact. Several actual fight clubs were formed across the country after the film gained popularity. It can also be linked to toxic masculinity and neofascism. However, Fight Club is still a groundbreaking film that pushed the cinematic style forward. This is one of the many new movies on Amazon Prime.

Aquatic life with Steve Zissou

Wes Anderson’s latest film The French dispatch should be released this Friday. This means that now is the perfect time to revisit his older films. One of the films that clearly defines his visual aesthetic is Aquatic life with Steve Zissou. This 2004 feature is new to Amazon Prime.

Like many of Wes Anderson’s films, Aquatic life with Steve Zissou has an incredible overall cast. It stars Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe, and Jeff Goldblum, among others. The story follows oceanographer Steve Zissou (Murray) as he tries to track down a jaguar shark that has eaten its best friend.

Aquatic life with Steve Zissou Also incorporates elements of a family drama with Anderson’s tongue-in-cheek comedy. Airline pilot Ned Plimpton (Wilson) joins the crew in an attempt to connect with Zissou, whom he believes to be his father. If you’ve never seen this Wes Anderson movie before, then put on your baby blue jumpsuit and red beanie to get on board!

The graduation

This 1967 film is accompanied by a score by Simon & Garfunkel which features the song “Mrs. Robinson”. The graduation is considered a groundbreaking film in modern American cinema. It is ranked seventeenth on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 best American films of all time. It stars Anne Bancroft, Dustin Hoffman and Katharine Ross.

The graduation follows Benjamin Braddock (Hoffman), a young man who returns home after graduating from college. Living with his parents, Benjamin is disillusioned about his privileged life. He begins sex with an older woman named Mrs. Robinson (Bancroft). Problems arise when he begins dating Mrs. Robinson’s daughter, Elaine (Ross).

Released in the midst of the sexual revolution of the late 60s, The graduation shows society’s taboos on adult relationships. The film also shows the rebellious attitude of the younger generation of baby boomers. Benjamin is not satisfied with the life his parents expect of him and decides to look for something more. This classic is one of the new movies that you can stream on Amazon Prime.

Casino Royale

With the latest James Bond No time to die finally released in theaters, many fans are looking back at Daniel Craig in 007. Casino Royale, the first of the Bond films starring Craig, is new to stream on Amazon Prime. This 2006 film rejuvenated the James Bond franchise, showing the character with more emotional depth.

Alongside Craig, Casino Royale stars Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen and Judi Dench. The plot follows Bond as he attempts to get his license to kill with MI6. Bond is tasked with killing international criminal Le Chiffre (Mikkelsen) in a game of poker. However, Bond develops feelings for a colleague named Vesper Lynd (Green) during the mission.

Since Casino Royale, Daniel Craig has starred in four other 007 films. In doing so, he has become one of the most internationally recognized movie stars. It will be interesting to see the reaction to his last installment, No time to die. To concern Casino Royale on Amazon Prime to see where it started.

There are plenty of newly added movies on Prime to keep you warm during the cold months. What are you watching on Amazon? Let us know in the comments!

To say that it lasted a few years would be a euphemism. Review of the last two years, ICYMI: bush fires, forest fires, drone strikes, flash floods, cyclones, earthquakes, police brutality, mass shootings, attempted dissident coup, cyber attacks and, oh yes, global pandemic. Palm springs (2020)

While this comedy is more of a time loop than a time travel, it’s too good not to include it. Watching two strangers (played by Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti) rehearse the same day over and over again after meeting at a wedding in Palm Springs has never been so fun.

A new week has arrived, October is halfway there (does the weather still make sense?), And Netflix is adding a bunch of new movies and shows to its lineup! This week brings a new Netflix Original horror film just in time for Halloween, a new season of a scary Netflix Original series, and a new series from Gwenyth Paltrow.

Season 2 of Lock & Key is also coming to Netflix this week. It will arrive on the streaming service on Friday, October 22, 2021. Season 2 will begin where Season 1 left off with (spoilers!) In this world, when you are 18, you lose the magic. What does this mean for the characters and how are they progressing?

Take a look at the Season 2 trailer here:

Gwenyth Paltrow is back with her goop. Sex, love and goop arrives on Netflix on Thursday, October 21, 2021. This time the actress covers relationships and how to improve them, sex and how to achieve deeper intimacy with your partner. The official synopsis says:

Gwyneth Paltrow and the goop team bring us Sex, Love & goop. This series follows courageous couples who, with the help of experts, learn lessons and methods to improve their relationships through more enjoyable sex and deeper intimacy.

As with most goop-related things, take the “experts” with a grain of salt and do your own research. goop does not have the better record for good practices, particularly in the area of health. Just be careful.

If you love your Halloween season covered in a ton of gore, then “Halloween Kills” is the movie for you. While the film is sadly far less focused than the excellent “Halloween” of 2018, the death toll rises dramatically as Myers makes his way through a gang of Haddonfield. The scope of the film is also increasing, trying to explore the impact of Michael’s crimes on the city he has threatened for so long. Although the film is entangled with some interesting ideas, it tries to do too much and, therefore, does not focus properly on any of them. The Blood, however, handles spectacularly, with several pretty headshots and a particularly frightening chase through a nearby park. Jamie Lee Curtis is also fantastic every moment she’s on screen, as is Judy Greer as a girl. It’s far from perfect, but it’s almost two hours of chaos that will set you up for “Halloween Ends” of 2022.

Night Books (Netflix)

It’s a children’s movie, you think. Surely it can’t be that scary. But it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes in the original Netflix movie “Nightbooks” to remind you that children’s nightmares can sometimes be scarier than adults. A modern take on “Hansel and Gretel”, the film follows a boy (Winslow Fegley) who gets tricked by a witch and must tell her stories or risk being killed every night. The stories he tells are almost sweet, and there’s a wonderful friendship with another girl who doesn’t want to care about anyone (Lidya Jewett). But their imprisonment is claustrophobic, much more like a real kidnapping than a candy-coated fairy tale, and the sense of menace that permeates almost every moment on screen will wash over your skin. Krysten Ritter is exactly the right kind of cartoon like the witch in question, exactly the kind of nightmare designed to appeal to kids, and the third act twist fits in perfectly even if you don’t see it coming.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (in theaters)

While there is certainly a monster factor and a serial killer, it is in some ways the lightest of the three films. “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” is more of a morbid boyfriend comedy than a monster movie, and if you’re in a good mood, this is exactly the right kind of silly fun. While Woody Harrelson does everything he can to be scary, the movie is actually about a lot more about the stress of sharing your body with a brain-eating alien who is better at your job than you are. Tom Hardy is a mess in the best possible way, both as Eddie Brock and Venom, and watching them fight (and sometimes defeat evil) is adorable in a slightly messy, Halloween-tinged way. It’s far from a perfect movie, but if you don’t mind removing your head occasionally, it’s a fun way to spend an evening.
