Fandango’s Video Service, FandangoNOW, and Rotten Tomatoes have teamed up to create the ‘200 Essential Movies To Watch Now’ Challenge, a list of 200 titles handpicked by Rotten Tomatoes editors and ranked in order of their Tomatometer scores .

Explains Rotten Tomatoes editor-in-chief Alex Vo:

We’re obsessed with movies, so a lot of love has gone into making this list. It was important for us to find the best-in-class movies spanning a wide range of genres, a variety of casts and topics, including coming-of-age stories. Above all, we wanted this list to present a fun challenge where people can share Rotten Tomatoes’ “200 Essentials” list with others, check out the classics they’ve seen, and discover some great new movies with their kids. friends and family.

It’s not a definitive selection of any kind – every moviegoer has their own personal canon, and that will never change – but it’s a fantastic place to start whether you’re a causal fan trying to educate yourself or a longtime geek looking to fill in a few gaps.
