Keanu Reeves Movies: Nine Must-See Movies | John Wick, Point Break, Bill and Ted

We all love Keanu Reeves right now, and he’s made a ton of great movies. These are the nine essential Keanu movies you should have seen.

There is no doubt that the world lives a lot like Keanu Reeves. And by thing, we mean a full-fledged feast of love.

Thanks to a trio of novelties – John Wick 3: Parabellum, Always be my maybe and Toy story 4 – there was an explosion of Keanu-ness and all the profiles that go with it.

He is also, apparently, one of the nicest people on Earth.

While he’s often criticized for not having a huge range when it comes to being a world-class actor, Keanu generally had an instinct to pick roles that suited him and his talents.

Here, we pick the nine essential Keanu Reeves movies that you must have seen to qualify as a true fan. Is your favorite here?

Keanu is as mad a hero as LAPD Bomb Squad Officer Jack Travan – brave, taciturn, kind and the target of a madman who strapped a bomb on a public bus that will explode when it drops in. below 80 km / h.

You must be thinking that Dennis Hopper’s Howard Payne subconsciously wanted to fail because there was no scenario where Jack didn’t save the day, with the help of Annie Porter of Sandra Bullock, a commuter who lost her license for driving too much. speed.

Their chemistry is sizzling, with the two recently revealing to Ellen that they secretly had a crush on each other while filming.

Speed is silly, thrill-seeking action from the 90s and it’s both better and worse than you remember it. But it’s Keanu Peak and you’re going to love every moment (except maybe for that unnecessary final act on the train).

That slicked back wet hair is enough to make you blush and pass out. As a young FBI recruit in Kathryn Bigelow’s surf / bank robber thriller, Keanu’s stupidly named Johnny Utah is an agent with undertones of cool.

When tasked with learning to surf (which the real Keanu still does today) to infiltrate a community of surfers, he quickly befriends Patrick Swayze’s Bodhi, who leads a gang of bank robbers. who use masks of former presidents in their party.

Johnny discovers an affinity for the waves as well as surfer Tyler (Lori Petty) but is enamored with Bodhi’s free-spirited lifestyle and quirky philosophy, but he’s also vowed to bring in the bad guys. What a dilemma.

Bigelow’s classic features incredible shots of big wave surfers and a dazzling skydiving streak, but it’s the push-and-pull of Keanu and Swayze’s performances that make Point Break a cult favorite. Skip the remake, my god you have to skip the remake.

Right after I finished filming Breaking point, Keanu started production on Gus Van Sant’s My own private Idaho, an arthouse drama with his friend River Phoenix.

The story of street scammers, inspired by John Rechy’s book Night city and Shakespeare’s Henrys, was a material that pushed the boundaries at the time of its release and is now considered one of the premier works of queer cinema.

It was also a risk for two pin-up actors at the height of their glory. When asked at the time in my Interview magazine if he was concerned that playing a prostitute would damage his image, he replied, “Who am I – a politician? “

Keanu and Phoenix played two friends on the street, Scott and Mike. Mike, a narcoleptic who fell into a stupor at inopportune times, is on the hunt for his mother, while Scott is a wealthy kid who ran away from his father to prove something, perhaps to himself, can – to be his father, maybe nothing for no reason at all – essentially, Prince Hal of Shakespeare.

The film won praise for its rich characterization and performance, particularly a campfire scene in which Mike confesses his love for Scott.

After roaming the land of B-quality movies for a few years, the role came to catapult Keanu into the limelight: John wick. Keanu got the script first and brought it to his Matrix double stuntman Chad Stahelski, who was looking for a directing project.

Stahelski teamed up with David Leitch, another famous Hollywood stuntman, and the two crafted a thrilling and stylish action flick that took full advantage of Keanu’s low-key acting instincts and knack for stunts.

John wick is a simple revenge thriller – a former assassin comes out of retirement when the son of a Russian crime boss steals his vintage car and kills the puppy his recently deceased wife bequeathed to him.

Wick is a one-man revenge machine, but what’s really awesome John wick, and the two consequences which it engendered, are its practical effects. What you see – the painstakingly choreographed and filmed action sequences – are real, not CGI. And it’s incredibly good.

It was the ultimate stupid buddies comedy way before Dumb and even dumber Where Wayne’s world – but with extra time travel!

Bill and Ted are two silly Californian teens chasing their dreams of musical stardom. They have to pass their history test first, and if they don’t, their band, Wyld Stallyns, will never achieve success and create a utopian society through their jams.

So, an emissary from the future, Rufus (George Carlin), takes the boys on a time travel adventure to teach them a little something about history. In turn, they meet Napoleon, Billy the Kid, Joan of Arc and Honest Abe.

Keanu is super-adorable like Ted, straightforward and well-meaning, and constantly stunned. And he’s gonna start all over again with the Bill & Ted suite slated for release in 2020. Excellent.

When the Wachowskis made their debut The matrix, it was an imaginative sci-fi extravaganza that blew us away and made us all question the validity of our reality. Be honest, for a year later I bet you thought every black cat you saw sparkled, just a little.

As Neo, or the Chosen One, Keanu’s Zen energy was perfect for a character who could replace any of us, which kind of fuels our own paranoia. The action sequences were amazing and fresh, offering audiences something they had never seen before live and outside of Japanese anime.

You didn’t get a higher concept than The matrix with his ambitious storytelling, but he perhaps believed his own hype a little too much, as the sequels were puzzling pseudo-philosophical films more pretentious than innovative.

But, Keanu would have made $ 100 million over the entire trilogy, so that’s good.

When asked recently in an interview with Variety Which character he would like to play again, Keanu declared “Constantine,” adding that he had had a blast with the role and the world created in Francis Lawrence’s supernatural comic book movie.

Constantine is a damned soul, trying to buy his way to Heaven by banishing rogue demons in Hell. He becomes involved in the attempt to stop an End Days plot after Rachel Weisz’s Angela asks him for his help in investigating the apparent suicide of her twin sister.

Constantine sounds like a weird premise, not for everyone, with its angels, demons, and exorcists, but is visually very impressive with its hyper-stylized aesthetic. He also has a great cast with Tilda Swinton, Peter Stormare, Gavin Rossdale and a young cherub Shia LaBeouf.

Who knows, now that Keanu has publicly expressed his interest in a sequel, and with his massive goodwill right now, we might finally get a Constantine 2.

You haven’t seen Keanu Reeves until you’ve seen him rotoscoped. Richard Linklater took over the semi-autobiographical novel by Philip K. Dick, filmed Keanu, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson and Winona Ryder, and then animated their performances.

As the title suggests, there is a darkness running through A dark scanner, which is quite normal for a Dick story, especially a story drawn from his own experiences with drugs.

The character of Keanu is another undercover cop who goes gonzo on his mission, this time in a drug den with his roommates. Men spend most of the day engaging in paranoid conversations about the nightmarish world in which 20% of the population is addicted.

Despite the subject matter and the source material, this is a relatively subtle movie, but it does require you to be careful.

Riverside was Keanu’s fourth film but it was his breakthrough. At only 21 years old when it came out, it is clear from this first performance that we were in the presence of a star.

The casting director said she knew he was there from the moment Keanu walked through her door.

The film starred independent sweetheart Ione Skye along with Crispin Glover and Daniel Roebuck as a group of teenagers trying to cover up a murder committed by one of them. It’s a moody play that deals with the fallout from a crime on a group of close friends.
