MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO
Right after I finished filming Breaking point, Keanu started production on Gus Van Sant’s My own private Idaho, an arthouse drama with his friend River Phoenix.

BILL & TED
It was the ultimate stupid buddies comedy way before Dumb and even dumber Where Wayne’s world – but with extra time travel!
Bill and Ted are two silly Californian teens chasing their dreams of musical stardom. They have to pass their history test first, and if they don’t, their band, Wyld Stallyns, will never achieve success and create a utopian society through their jams.
So, an emissary from the future, Rufus (George Carlin), takes the boys on a time travel adventure to teach them a little something about history. In turn, they meet Napoleon, Billy the Kid, Joan of Arc and Honest Abe.
Keanu is super-adorable like Ted, straightforward and well-meaning, and constantly stunned. And he’s gonna start all over again with the Bill & Ted suite slated for release in 2020. Excellent.
THE MATRIX
When the Wachowskis made their debut The matrix, it was an imaginative sci-fi extravaganza that blew us away and made us all question the validity of our reality. Be honest, for a year later I bet you thought every black cat you saw sparkled, just a little.
As Neo, or the Chosen One, Keanu’s Zen energy was perfect for a character who could replace any of us, which kind of fuels our own paranoia. The action sequences were amazing and fresh, offering audiences something they had never seen before live and outside of Japanese anime.
You didn’t get a higher concept than The matrix with his ambitious storytelling, but he perhaps believed his own hype a little too much, as the sequels were puzzling pseudo-philosophical films more pretentious than innovative.
But, Keanu would have made $ 100 million over the entire trilogy, so that’s good.
CONSTANTINE
When asked recently in an interview with Variety Which character he would like to play again, Keanu declared “Constantine,” adding that he had had a blast with the role and the world created in Francis Lawrence’s supernatural comic book movie.
Constantine is a damned soul, trying to buy his way to Heaven by banishing rogue demons in Hell. He becomes involved in the attempt to stop an End Days plot after Rachel Weisz’s Angela asks him for his help in investigating the apparent suicide of her twin sister.
Constantine sounds like a weird premise, not for everyone, with its angels, demons, and exorcists, but is visually very impressive with its hyper-stylized aesthetic. He also has a great cast with Tilda Swinton, Peter Stormare, Gavin Rossdale and a young cherub Shia LaBeouf.
Who knows, now that Keanu has publicly expressed his interest in a sequel, and with his massive goodwill right now, we might finally get a Constantine 2.
A DARKLY SCANNER
You haven’t seen Keanu Reeves until you’ve seen him rotoscoped. Richard Linklater took over the semi-autobiographical novel by Philip K. Dick, filmed Keanu, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson and Winona Ryder, and then animated their performances.

RIVER EDGE
