New movies in theaters and streaming this weekend: December 24, 2021

As I got older I started to create my own holiday traditions. So every year for Christmas, I open presents in the morning and attend a morning of the last film in theaters. Today we’re sharing the best new movies to watch in theaters and the movies available on streaming services that you don’t want to miss this weekend.

There is an INSANE amount of movies hitting theaters this weekend that will capture all ages. We also have the mouths of people who have not caught Spider-Man: No Path Home in theaters the opening weekend.

For families, we have the return of Illumination Sing 2, the sequel to the 2016 hit. Also for families we have the inspiring tale of Kurt Warner’s life in American Underdog: The Story of Kurt Warner.

For the grown-ups we have a wide range of upcoming movies, the latest by Paul Thomas Anderson, Licorice Pizza, the third installment of The king’s man franchise and the return of Keanu Reeves in Matrix resurrections.

New films to see in theaters this weekend

  • Sing 2
  • American Underdog: The Story of Kurt Warner
  • A newspaper for Jordan
  • Licorice Pizza
  • Parallel mothers
  • The tender bar
  • The king’s man

I loved the first one To sing. I thought the first film was well done and a fun take on the American Idol / The voice shown in an animated film. The sequel, which I had the opportunity to attend the US premiere at AFI Fest, is BETTER. It’s my favorite animated movie of the year. I loved the new additions to the cast and the story has a lot of heart.

New movies to stream from home this weekend

While I haven’t seen any of the Matrix movies yet (I know, I know), I’m thrilled for those who have and are ready for another installment in the franchise. I plan to check it out before I see the others.

Do not seek released on Netflix today. Watch it, enjoy it, be terrified of it, but ultimately enjoy the fantastic art that Adam McKay presents to us again.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
