Screenwriter John Paul dies at 72

Famous Malayalam film scriptwriter John Paul breathed his last on April 23 in a hospital in Kochi. He was 72 years old.

John Paul died in a private hospital in Kochi after a long illness.

Malayalam screenwriter John Paul died on Saturday April 23 at a hospital in Kochi, Kerala. He was 72 and reportedly undergoing treatment for various illnesses at Kochi Hospital for the past two months. He breathed his last at 1 p.m. on April 23.

John Paul wrote the screenplays for over 100 Malayalam films and was one of the most popular screenwriters. Some of the well-known films he wrote for are Marmaram, Vida Parayum Munpe, Yathra, Chamaram, Kathayariyathe, Asthram, Ormakkayi, Kathodu Kathoram, Purappadu, Orukkam, Randam Varavu, Chamayam, Aksharam, Kattathe Kilikkoodu, and Vellathooval. John Paul has also acted in many films. He was part of movies like Gangster with Mammootty and Manju Warrier’s C/O Saira Banu.

A few days ago, John Paul’s friend and supporter shared a message asking for help with the screenwriter’s treatment. After that, the Kerala government allocated Rs 2 lakh for the treatment of John Paul from the chief minister’s relief fund. He was also helped by some of his fans.

The screenwriter’s funeral will take place on April 24.
