Sharvari said she wanted to make a movie with Aditya Roy Kapur.
Sharvari made her Bollywood debut in 2021 with Bunty Aur Babli 2. The actress wowed critics with her performance. Sharvari’s chemistry with his co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi was also noticed. In 2022, the actress plans to explore new horizons and try new things. In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Sharvari opened up about the advice she’s received from her seniors in the industry, what kind of roles she wants to take on, and more.
Excerpts from our conversation:
You are new to Bollywood. What things have you learned from your elders or your peers?
Saif (Ali Khan) sir and Rani (Mukerji) madam told me to just keep my feet on the ground and my head on my shoulders and go get the stars. I think that’s the best way to sum up how to move forward. It’s something that I keep with me as I go along. Basically, a lot of people have told me that there is no recipe for success. There is no recipe for a certain fame or anything that you perceive to be successful. It’s just working hard and giving your all. It’s just being happy every day in what you do.
What genre do you like the most?
I think comedy has been my favorite space. It’s also because I like to watch comedy movies. I think it happens to everyone – the things you watch more of are what you would feel more comfortable doing on screen. For me, comedy has been something that I love to watch. Whenever I put my laptop on my laptop, whether it’s a show or a movie, my top choice is either romantic comedy or comedy. I think this is the space that I love. It is also something that I very much appreciated. But I’m new and not really experienced in a lot of genres. I am very excited to see how I feel when I actually perform them. For example, a drama, period film or thriller.
How are you preparing for your upcoming projects, given the competitive nature of the industry?
I’ve been in this position where in an hour 50 girls audition for the same role, even if it’s an advertisement. I was one of them. I sat in these lines and waited and wanted these announcements and projects. More than new girls coming every Friday, I also have a sense of how many people want it. People might not even stand out today because I went unnoticed. I didn’t stand out for a very long time. I know there can be so many girls like me who want to do this. I think my approach is to do justice to a lot of hard working people today. So, I keep myself mentally busy and the free space I’m in, I try to learn more and more things. I try to learn different forms of dance. I try to learn as many theater workshops that I can attend. So I keep improving.
You and Siddhant Chaturvedi looked really good together in Bunty Aur Babli 2. Is there another actor you’d like to share the screen with?
Aditya Roy Kapur. I think everyone can agree with that.
What can fans expect from you in 2022?
I just want to say thank you to a lot of people who watched my movie, enjoyed it, liked it, and inundated me with Instagram posts. It means a lot to me because Bunty Aur Babli 2 was my first movie. As people, we all seek some degree of validation for the work that we do. It’s just beautiful when people return the favor. I am very excited for those who follow me and those who have shown this love. I’m very excited to come up with more projects and keep them entertained more in 2022.
