Breaking the hearts of millions of fans, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth announced their separation after 18 years of marriage. It was in 2004 that Dhanush – the son of filmmaker Kasthuri Raja – and Aishwaryaa – the daughter of Megastar Rajinikanth got married. WHEN DHANUSH AND AISHWARYAA RAJINIKANTH ARE IN LOVE
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth come from one of the most influential families in South India. Dhanush, who was pursuing an acting career, met Aishwaryaa at the screening of his film Kadhal Kondaen. Apparently, Aishwaryaa congratulated him on his performance and even sent him a bouquet. Such a cute gesture, right?
Soon there were stories about the two encounters. However, Dhanush refuted the rumors and said that Aishwaryaa is just his sister’s friends. That’s when their families stepped in and saw what a beautiful couple they would be. Thus, a meeting was arranged between Dhanush and Aishwaryaa. It was enough for them to know that they had to be together.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa finally got married just after six months of dating on November 18, 2004. At the time, the actor was 21, while Aishwaryaa was 23. The two-year age gap is not never become a problem for the lovebirds.
In an interview, Aishwarya had spoken about her relationship with Dhanush. “The best thing about our relationship is the fact that we give each other a lot of space. Neither of us believes in changing for the other just because we want to be together. When you’re in the mid- twenties, your mind is determined by what you believe in and it’s very difficult to change yourself,” she said.
DHANUSH AND AISHWARYAA ANNOUNCE SEPARATION
While Dhanush and Aishwaryaa’s love story is an inspiration to many, the two realized it was time to go their separate ways. Taking to Twitter, the actor announced their separation and wrote, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and sympathizers towards each other. The journey has been made from growth, understanding, adjustment and adaptation. Today we are at a place where our paths diverge. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take the time to understand each other as as individuals for the better. Please respect our decision and give us the privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya (sic)!”

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa have two sons – Yatra, who was born in 2006, and Linga, whom the couple welcomed in 2010.
