Vijay Deverakonda is preparing to make his Bollywood debut with the bilingual Telugu-Hindi Liger, which is set to open on August 25. The biggie has garnered a lot of attention as it features the young star in an intense new avatar. Now here is some more exciting news for ardent VD fans. Vijay revealed that the pan-Indian movie will likely get a sequel. Liger is a sports drama, written and directed by Puri Jagannadh.
LIGER WILL HAVE A SUITE
Vijay Deverakonda, last seen in World Famous Lover (2020), without commercial success, should return to our screens with Liger. The film has become a rage among youngsters as it features massive dialogues such as ‘waat laga denge’ and ‘I am a fighter’. Ahead of its release, Vijay indirectly confirmed that Liger 2 is on the cards. Speaking to BollywoodLife, the idol said Liger will likely get a sequel.
“There will be, most likely. Yeah,” he added.
Vijay, however, declined to reveal plot details for the proposed sequel.
ABOUT LIGER
Liger is a sports drama that features Vijay Deverakonda as a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter with a speech impediment. Ananya Panday, who was last seen in the romantic drama Gehraiyaan directed by Deepika Padukone, will make her Tollywood debut with the film. Liger also features Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Makrand Deshpande, among others, in pivotal roles. Iconic boxer Mike Tyson will be seen in a cameo appearance in the film. Liger is set to hit screens on August 25.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR VIJAY?
Vijay Deverakonda, meanwhile, is going through an exciting phase on the labor front. The Arjun Reddy actor will be seen alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the romantic comedy Khushi, which is set to hit theaters on December 23. This will be his second film with the star after Mahanati (2018) directed by Keerthy Suresh. He also has Jana Gana Mana (JGM) in his chat.
